Video: Strengthening Body and Mind Through Yoga

Om Shanti Om Yoga in Sayville seeks to bring yoga to a large demographic.

in Sayville teaches a diversity of classes, drawing local residents from beginners to more advanced students.  The center also offers classes for children ages three to five and 10 to 13, Tai Chi and soon will offer classes for expecting mothers. Sessions usually draw up to 15 students.    

During the summer, Om Shanti also offers free Sunday morning classes at the Common Ground.

It's never too late to start! I recently started yoga at age 60 and I love it. I clearly go at my own pace which is just fine and actually encouraged. After all, that is part of the "practice". Yoga offers a time to develop an inner quiet, a peace, a center and also strengthens my body. Everyone is focused on their own practice in class so it is not competitive; it is both restful and energizing. Deb is a great teacher.
