Police Seek Help in Nabbing Sayville Bank Robber

Robber hit Capital One on Main Street in July.

Suffolk Police are hoping the public can help identify the bank robber who hit the Capital One bank in Sayville this past July.

The man is described as thin, white, between 5’5 and 5’8 tall and wearing a long-sleeved shirt, shorts, knee-high socks, dark sunglasses and a fedora-style hat.

According to police he entered the bank, at 160 Main St., about 3:40 p.m. on July 8. He waited on line and then handed the teller a note demanding cash. Police say the teller gave the man the money and he then fled on foot westbound on Main Street.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
