Sayville Little Leaguer Aims to Hit a Charitable Home Run

Noah Horak embarks on a unique charity project.

Noah Horak a sixth grader at Sayville Middle School, and a veteran Sayville Little League and Sayville Grays team player, has started a not- for- profit organization that supports local charitable organizations called Home Runs for Charity.

Home Runs for Charity ask for donors to pledge a dollar amount for each home run that is hit in the Sayville Little League. Home Runs for Charity is reaching out to local businesses and the community at large to raise funds for various worthy charities.

Donors pledge a dollar amount for each home run hit by a Sayville Little League player.  The number of home runs will be totaled over the course of the season and tracked on the Home Runs for Charity website.

Pledged donations are tallied and funds collected at the end of the season.       Each player who scores a run will receive a patch to display on his uniform and an invitation on stage at the end of season check ceremony.

A partial list of charities and groups supported by direct contributions of funds received:  Long Island Cares; Ronald McDonald House of Long Island; United Way of Long Island; and the Sayville Little League.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for the Sayville Community to give back and for our kids to feel empowered” says the Giambanco family of Sal’s Pizza, who is sponsoring four Sayville Little League teams this year.

Horak says he is excited about doing this.

“With my Dad’s help, I have been working hard to get this going; I hope we can raise a lot of money for those that need it”.
