Young adults getting the short end of the stick

When I was passing through Patchogue the other day, I noticed that the Patchogue-Medford Library is building a teen center. It will be located next to the Tap Room on Main Street and will become a social gathering spot for teenagers. The first thing that I thought to myself when I saw that was where are all the facilities like this for young adults ages 18-28? Teenagers have plenty of ways to socialize and meet people such as playing sports, joining musical programs, and clubs and organizations. All of these which are found at their respected middle school and high schools. But once a student graduates from high school all that is gone. Yes I know there are organizations similar to that in college but not everyone goes to college and there are many people in the 20's who have completed college. So how are they going to meet new friends, foster new relationships and such? The theory that everyone my age has to answer that question is to go to the bars and nightclubs. By the way there already is a teen center at the Sayville Library, but not once do the people who organize these towns in this area think about the young people. We are the future and if you spend almost every night in a bar and you're my age you are going down a bad path. If you look at the age brackets of people in these surrounding towns it is like the young people are the rejected middle child. To sum it all up, I feel that people should focus less on entertainment for children and more on entertainment for the age group that suffers the most in this town: the young men and women ages 18-28.
