Dracula: Fiction and Reality

Since his first appearance in Bram Stoker's classic novel Dracula has been portrayed in various ways by different writers, filmmakers and actors. This Halloween, Transylvania's most famous son will be unmasked once and for all. Join us for an illuminating discussion of the origins and evolution of one of the most recognized characters in all of English literature. Creative Writing Workshop

Have a story to tell? Learn how to tell it from beginning to end in six one-hour sessions. We will explore the essential elements of storytelling: character, plot, dialogue, conflict, and theme. Other topics will include brainstorming and other techniques for getting started, developing your own voice, revising, and dealing with writer's block. Microsoft Word Part 2

Creative Harvest Dinner

Chef Rob Scott returns to with a demonstration of a comforting harvest dinner! The program will include demonstrations (and tastings) of pork tenderloin with apricot preserves and whole grain crust, sweet onion cider soup with thyme and three lettuce salad with dried cherries, almonds and blue cheese. Fall Quilted Table Runner

Join experienced quilter and seamstress Mary Ellen Aliperti for a fun night of sewing a fall table runner.  Learn basic sewing stitches and decorative applique stitches and go home with a finished table runner ready to decorate your table! Stop by the Adult Services Desk to see a sample. Festive fabric, appliques, and thread are included. A portable sewing machine is very helpful but not necessary. Sewing knowledge is necessary.
