Book Club, Teen Movie Night, Town Board Meetings Ahead This Week

Just nine days left until the big holiday.

With just nine days before Christmas arrives, this is likely one of the most busiest weeks of the year for families, parents and obviously those slaving away at the North Pole.

So to make sure you don’t miss any of the fun programs, important meetings and events happening between Blue Point  and West Sayville, Patch offers up our week-ahead guide.

Baby It’s Time to Bundle Up

The cold front that hit late last week and the weekend promises to continue, according to weather.com, which predicts mostly sunny days this week with snow possible on Tuesday . While daytime temps are expected to be mid to high 30s and even hit 41 on Thursday, nights will be chilly and likely below freezing.

What’s Ahead on Patch

Gift ideas for the last minute shopper, updates on community issues and concerns as well as the weekly crime blotter are on tap for Patch this week. Islip Town Meetings

The Town of Islip Zoning Board of Appeals will meet Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Islip Town Hall.

The Town of Islip Planning Board will meet Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Islip Town Hall.

Events, Programs and Happenings

Every school district’s calendar is full of holiday concerts this week and it’s a great way to get into the holiday spirit even if you’re children have grown past the elementary and high school class level.

Monday, Dec. 16
The adult book club at Sayville Library will meet at 7 p.m. The current book under discussion is Obituary Winter. The club meeting runs til 8:30 p.m.

Friday Dec. 20
The teen movie night at Sayville Library will feature Turbo. The event runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
