Scout Troops Held Keep Sayville Clean

Lincoln Avenue Cub Scouts join with Junior Girl Scouts for yealy clean up of lot in town.

As part of Keep Islip Clean (KIC) program’s Great American Cleanup, members of Cub Scout Pack 363, Junior Girl Scout Troop 46 and Junior Girl Scout Troop 2077 from got together on April 16 to dispose of garbage and clean up their town of Sayville.

The team spent the morning cleaning up Town Lot #11, adjacent to Sayville Plaza Shopping Center in the parking lot. There were around 65 Cub Scouts from Lincoln Avenue ranging from kindergarteners to fifth graders. There were also about 15 Girl Scouts from two Junior troops in fourth and fifth grade.

According to Amy Hutchison, who heads up the community service projects for the Scouts, about 50 bags of garbage were collected, including shelving units and some of the waste was taken for recycling.

This is the fourth year that the Scouts have cleaned up the area and all the vests, gloves and garbage bags are donated by the Town of Islip. donated coffee and Danish for all to enjoy.
