NY Auto Giant Group Donates $35K to ROHADD Fight

Very rare disease afflicts Bayport 6-year-old Marisa Carney.

The NY Auto Giant Group recently donated $35,000 to ROHADD Fight and a check presentation was held at Atlantic Hyundai in West Islip.

The check was presented to Suzanne Aheran, director and treasurer of ROHADD Fight, Inc. The funds will be used for raising awareness and finding a cure for ROHADD (Rapid-onset Obesity with Hypothalamic Dysfunction, Hypoventilation and Autonomic Dysregulation).

Unfortunately, one of Suffolk County's own is striken with ROHADD, 6-year-old Marisa Carney of Bayport. Marisa and her parents, Danielle and Bill Carney, were in attendance as the check was presented to Aheran by Michael Brown, CEO of NY Auto Giant Group and Dan Toomey, general manager of Atlantic Hyundai.

Bob Wasilko, of Atlantic Hyundai, said the company, which often donates cars to charitable organizations, decided to donate to ROHADD Fight in part to bring more attention to the very rare disease.

"What we are really trying to do is generate some awareness," Wasilko said.
