Group also hopes donations will help with financial costs for Blue Point family.
A fundraiser to support plans for a memorial park named in honor of Blue Point teenager Billy Schettino will be held July 1 at Blue restaurant and the organizing committing is hoping to also provide the family financial support as well from the event.
The fundraiser, which starts at 6 p.m. will feature a Chinese auction, raffles and prizes and the committee is still hoping to get more donations. There will be live music from local Long Island bands. Admission is $20 and the cost includes food and raffle tickets. There will be a cash bar.
Billy Schettino was killed in March when he was hit by a county sheriff on the LIE while awaiting help after his car became disabled. A group of family and friends hope to use funds from the event to build a memorial skate park at the site of the former laundry on Park Street in Blue Point.
