Fundraiser at Land's End Friday for Sayville Family

will be the site of a Chinese auction fundraiser Friday night for a Sayville family that is going through a rough time. 

The fundraiser, to run from 7-11 p.m., will support the O'Connor family. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at the Sayville High School athletic office (for full details, see flyer at right).

Here's a portion of a letter sent to community members from Sayville Football Head Coach Robert Hoss:

I am writing to you on the behalf of the O'Connor family. As many of you know, the family has four boys who have been through the Sayville school system.  Jimmy 05', Billy  07', Patrick 09' and Kevin 13', lost their father Jim O'Connor on Jan. 24.  The boys are in terrible pain at the loss of their father and are just beginning the grieving process.

To make matters worse, the family is under extreme financial duress.  In my opinion, one of the greatest aspects about the Sayville Community is its ability to rally together and help others in times of need.  I believe that it is this intangible that makes Sayville so unique.  Please consider donating to this worthwhile cause.
