Food Pantry Needs Support in Summer

Blue Point parish issues call for donations.

Rhose hungry don't stop being hungry away from wintertime and holidays. As a local food pantry explains, the need to feed those in need is year round and summer months often bring a drop in food donations.

That's why the Our Lady of Snow Parish is hoping to raise awareness that food pantries need support and donations 12 months a year.

"During the summer months donations to our food pantry drop considerably.Unfortunately hunger has no season! These tough economic times are placing a burden on many households in our community," a food pantry worker wrote in an email to Patch.

The pantry is in need of food items, toiletries, paper goods, and large size diapers. Gift cards to local supermarkets would also be appreciated.

The pantry is also hoping that vegetable gardeners in the community will consider donating fresh food as well.

Those wishing to donate can call the Parish Outreach with any questions at 363-2417. The pantry's hours are Mon-Thurs 10am-1pm and is located in the white cottage, in the parking lot of the large church located at 175 Blue Point Ave Blue Point.
