Community Blood Drive Collects for LI Blood Services

Our Lady of the Snow parish outreach 38th annual drive drew local volunteers to the "little church" Monday.

The parish outreach blood drive Monday collected nearly 90 pints of blood from Bayport-Blue Point donors.

Parish Outreach Director Diana Mongan said people stopped by to donate throughout the day in support of the church's 38th annual Community Blood Drive.

Mongan was happy with the turnout, especially since it rained on and off for most of Monday.

"We were delighted with the result of 87 pints of blood collected from our donors, and in the pouring rain, too," she said.

Despite the success of the event, the outreach director would like to see even more donors at future drives, specifically younger families.

"There are people who donate every year, it's those people we depend one year after year," she said, adding that it's important for the younger generation to get involved as well.
