Bayport FD Pancake Fundraiser Happening Saturday

The event will raise money for Michael Umstead who is battling several congenital heart defects.

The Bayport Fire Department is holding a pancake breakfast and Chinese auction benefit on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the fire house on Snedecor Avenue in Bayport.

The event will raise money for Michael Umstead, the one-year-old grandchild of Frank Tripoli, who is a member of the fire department.

Nicknamed 'Mighty Mike," Michael was born with several congenital heart defects and has had two open heart surgeries during his first six months of live. He will need another heart surgery by the time he turns four and a heart transplant when he hits his 30s.

The funds raised will help offset medical bills and start a trust fund for Michael's future surgeries and medical expenses.

Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for children over 2. Twenty five raffle tickets will be given with each breakfast ticket and additional raffle tickets can be purchased at the event.

For more information email mightymikeU@gmail.com. Those who cannot attend the event have the opportunity to donate separately.
