Backpack Pirates Take Off Tomorrow

Volunteers needed for this day-long activity.

On Wednesday, a group of underprivileged children, ages 6 to 17, are taking a ferry over to Fire Island for a day they will never forget, and volunteers are still needed.

The Fifth Annual Backpack Pirates event will allow these children to go over to Fire Island and have a day filled with activities including treasure hunts, swimming, nature walks through the “Sunken Forest,” sand castle contest, volleyball games, visit to the nature museum, a barbeque lunch, entertainment performances by the Broadway troop “Story Pirates” and the “Black Spot” Pirate Productions and much, much more. They will all receive a backpack for school upon their return.

Boats will leave from the Sayville Ferry Dock Browns River Road Sayville at 9:30 a.m. and return at 4:45 p.m. Children are to be at the dock no later than 9 a.m. Interested in volunteering or have a question? Email Everychildsdream@gmail.com or contact Ken Mangan 631.365.6320
