The Sights & Fun of Summerfest 2012

The intense heat and humidity didn't stop the swell of visitors hitting Sayville Saturday for the annual chamber event.

The most popular thing at Summerfest Saturday afternoon was shade or a breeze, or if you got really lucky, a breeze while standing in the shade. Heat and humidity were as intense as the crowds filling Main and Railroad Avenue though very few people were taking advantage of a new option this year--outdoor dining seats provided by restaurants and eateries.

There was great music, great exhibits, such as the emergency vehicle extraction demonstration by the Sayville Fire Department. One can only imagine how hot those volunteers were wearing the required gear in the heat so a huge thank you to the members who showed the crowd just how the jaw of life equipment can prove life-saving. There were belly dancers and local dance troups and an amazing amount of artistic talent.
