Business Beat: Sayville Miniature Golf Opening in a Few Weeks

The course is tucked behind the ISA facility/Long Island Sportsplex just west of the trestle on Montauk Highway.

Sayville Falls will be opening within weeks in Sayville, with promises of hours of fun and enjoyment for local minature golf fanatics.

It's being built directly behind the sports ISA facility/The Plex facility on the south side of Montauk Highway, just west of the railroad trestle and it's already taking shape with a mountain and waterways underway. The course, according to an insider who spoke with Patch, will be on par with the mini golf kingdom course at Deer Park's Heartland golfing facility.

Patch grabbed some shots as workers continued progress Monday morning. Stay tuned as we'll have more information and details from the owner this week. He's a Bayport resident and former pro golfer and designed the course.

This is a wonderful idea, and I wish them nothing but good luck. It's about time Sayville had something that was fun and entertaining for all ages. But it raises the question... What ever happened to the skate-park that was promised before the ground breaking of ISA?

According to the past and current owner, the insurance liability of a skate board park is too prohibitive for a business owner. It may be possible if Suffolk County could somehow get involved and be the liable entity but that's not in the forseeable future. There is talk of a skate board park in Blue Point, at two possible locations, but that's a long way from fruition at this point as well.

It was my understanding that the skate park was the whole reason that building was approved in the first place?
