l senior Emily Meier has signed to High Point University in North Carolina to play lacrosse.
Since ninth grade, Emily has started for the varsity girls lacrosse team and played an important role as a midfielder on Sayville’s Suffolk County Championship squad in 2009.
“Emily is a great leader,” said coach Adam Sznitken, who praises her for not only being one of the smartest players, but because she is like having another coach out on the field. “She leads by example, which is an attribute of the best leaders. Many of our offensive plays run through Emily, even though she might not always be the one scoring the goal.”
Coach Sznitken has seen Emily improve as a player each year, “and now she rarely makes mistakes.”
She will be a great asset to High Point lacrosse, he said.
