Sayville Dominates in Most Recent Victory

Sayville defeated Selden Wednesday night 27-8.

In Wednesday night's matchup, the Sayville All-Stars defeated Selden by a definitive margin of 19 runs in a 27-8 victory.

Sayville opened the flood gates early with a 5 spot in the first inning started by a two run single by Dan Martucci to Centerfield. Evan D'Agostino also contributed with a two run single as well as a single by Stephen Scala.

The first inning proved to be just a spark in their offense when they came back to the batters box in the second inning tacking on even more runs. Sayville was also smart and quick on the base paths contributing to their success.

"The boys kept the bats swinging, continually stealing bases and playing heads up ball,"  said Coach Jenn Ferremi.

Again in the third inning, Mike Leach touched them all with a two-run homer over the centerfielders head. The Sayville All-Stars were definitely having fun out on the field as Leach's teammates came running out of the dugout to congratulate and celebrate his homerun like they just won the world series.

Along with their scorching bats, their defense was just as devastating. Daniel Febrizio pitched a shutout through four innings of play. Evan D'Agostino came in relief in the fifth allowing Selden to score a few runs. He kept his team in the game until Matt Bavaro stepped on the mound in the sixth inning to finish the game.

"The boys played a phenomenal game, keeping the balls in front of them and not throwing anything away," said Ferremi. "If the boys play as great as they did today we should have a good chance at beating Islip this Friday going into the final."
