Runner Finishes Cross Country Trek With Stop In Sayville

Jeff Grabosky started his run in Califormia in January and is stopping in Sayville on Friday.

Jeff Grabosky, 28, is the 18th person to run the country unassisted and solo and he is stopping in Sayville on Friday, May 20.

Grabosky, a New Jersey native, started his journey in California in January and will run his final stretch through New York this week, ending on Long Island. He will greet his college roommate Brendan Barrett, co-owner of the , at 10 a.m. on Friday and the two will finish the run together, joined by anyone interested in running to Smiths Point.

Grabosky is running with nothing but a few belongings and supplies in a small backpack. So that everyone can have a stake in what he's doing, Grabosky opted not to run for any charity but instead he has asked people to send him prayer intentions, which he will pray for during his run. He is running because he was looking for the next big challenge after completing two 100-mile races and several marathons and he was driven by his faith to overcome the death of his mother and a divorce within the same week.
