Phantoms Scoreboard: Girls Soccer Undefeated in Conference Play

Week of Sept. 26-Oct. 2.

Football: The Phantoms defense was unable to stop one of Suffolk County's hottest offenses, as they fell once again on Saturday at home against Amityville, 37-13. Amityville came flying out of the gate, scoring all 37 points in the first half. They rushed for 340 yards as a team, and quarterback Sean Walters passed for another 127 on 11 of 13 passing.

Boys Soccer: Despite rallying for two early second half goals on Thursday to briefly knot the score at 2, the Phantoms dropped their second game of the week when Charles DeMaio gave Shoreham-Wading River the lead for good in a 3-2 loss. Fatigue may have been a factor for Bayport, as it was their second loss in as many days after falling 2-0 to Amityville on Wednesday.

Girls Soccer: Nicole Copping and Rebecca Raber paced the Phantoms to two victories this week. First, Raber's two goals pushed Bayport past Mt. Sinai on Monday in a 3-1 victory. Not to be outdone, Copping added two of her own in Thursday's 3-0 shutout of Mattituck. The girls are now alone at the top of League VII at 4-0, and sit at 4-2 overall.

Field Hockey: Jackie Muller's first half goal proved to be all the offense the Phantoms would need in a 1-0 blanking of Copiague on Sunday. The victory, Bayport's first in Division II this season, made a 2-0 loss at Sayville on Wednesday a bit easier to handle. With games still to make up on other teams, the Phantoms are still very alive in the Divison II race.
