Phantoms Scoreboard: Girls Soccer Explodes For Six Goals In Win

Week of Oct. 3-Oct. 9

Football: Despite scoring 19 fourth-quarter points in a rare mid-week affair, the Phantoms were unable to climb out of an early 28-9 deficit as they . Bayport quarterback Bailey Imbo threw for 266 yards and three touchdowns in the loss, a sign of life from a previously sluggish Phantoms offense. They will host Southampton on October 15 at 1:30 p.m.

Girls Soccer: The Lady Phantoms suffered their first two defeats of 2011 this week, but still retained the top spot in League VII. A tough 1-0 loss at the hands of Shoreham-Wading River, who are now nipping at the Phantoms' heels in second place, capped a busy three-game week that saw the team go 1-2. Sandwiched between the losses was an emphatic 6-1 victory over Southampton, highlighted by Rebecca Raber's first hat trick of the season. Mackenzie Miller, Carissa Valva and Ally Constantine also scored for the Phantoms, who impressively did all of their damage before halftime.

Boys Soccer: Still searching for their first conference victory, the Phantoms boys soccer team went 0-1-1 this week. After letting a 2-0 lead slip away at home against Westhampton on Monday, a game which ended in a 2-2 tie, Bayport then lost at Mt. Sinai, 1-0, on Wednesday. Brian White and Alex Dura scored for the Phantoms in Monday's tie, while goaltender Connor Young was forced to make 18 saves over the two games this week to keep Bayport close.

Field Hockey: The Lady Phantoms split a pair of games that went to penalty strokes this past week, falling to Lindenhurst, 1-0, on Monday before besting Babylon, 2-1, on Wednesday. Julianna Barrasso stood tall in net again in the victory, making six saves and Melissa Lawrence scored the game-winning goal for Bayport, who is still very alive in the Divison II playoff race, despite sitting at 2-4 in league games.
