A look at how your Phantoms have fared early on this spring

Baseball: The Phantoms squeaked out a 4-3 victory over Babylon on Tuesday afternoon to improve their record to 3-3, and 3-2 in League VII. Erich Grosse’s fifth-inning RBI double extended Bayport’s lead to 4-1, which proved to be a pivotal insurance run. Mike Ingargiola notched his third victory of the season on the mound. So far, they’ve gone 2-1 against Mt. Sinai, and sit in third place, one game ahead of the Mustangs.

Boys Tennis: Third doubles pairing Jon Keyes and Xavier Stickney won the decisive match of a 4-3 victory over Sachem East Wednesday afternoon. The first set was won in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (8-6), before the pair of Phantoms won the following set, 6-3. Bayport has cruised out to an 8-1 record, good for tops in League 5’s Division III. Their lone loss came at the hands of third place Ward Melville.

Softball: Lauren Peterson and Tammy Vermulen combined for seven hits and six RBI in Tuesday’s 14-2 blowout victory over Southampton. Since losing to Islip to begin the season, the Phantoms have reeled off five consecutive victories and remain undefeated in League VII with a 5-0 mark. The team has gotten home runs from four different players, Peterson, Vermulen, Jaclyn Hahn and Meg Brewer. Brewer also leads the team with three wins.
