Murphy Receives NCAA Diving Honors

Atlantic-10 Conference names Sayville High School grad Performer of the Week.

Sayville High School graduate Mike Murphy, now a junior at St. Bonaventure University and member of the school’s swimming and diving team, was named the Atlantic-10 Conference’s Men’s Performer of the Week on Monday.

He broke his own previous record in the 3-Meter Dive, recording a score of 350.70, finishing first in an event this past weekend against the University of Buffalo. Murphy also finished second at the same event in the 1-Meter Dive with a score of 301.50.

As a sophomore, Murphy placed first at the Atlantic-10 championships in the 1-Meter Dive and earned a spot on the A-10 First Team All-Conference squad at the 1-meter level.

At Sayville High School, Murphy as a senior placed third in the New York State High School Athletic Association championships and was county champion in his junior and senior years. In his senior year, he set the high school dive record at six dives (321.85) and 11 dives (505.00).
