More Accolades For Local Lacrosse Stars

Another week and another set of awards for two local collegiate lacrosse stars.

Sayville’s Jasmine DePompeo and Bayport’s Loren Generi were honored after leading Navy’s women’s lacrosse team to a pair of double overtime victories this past week.

DePompeo was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for a record sixth time this season and Generi has been named the Patriot League Midfield Player of the Week. DePompeo has also been tabbed as the NAAA Athlete of the Week presented by Rolls-Royce for the second-straight week.

DePompeo scored game-winning sudden-victory goals twice this past week, and Generi assisted on both tallies, as Navy defeated Jacksonville, 13-12, and American, 11-10.

The Sayville High School graduate scored six points on four goals and two assists against Jacksonville and added a hat trick in the win against American. Her game-winner came 36 seconds into double overtime against Jacksonville and 41 seconds into double overtime against American.

DePompeo leads the Patriot League and the NCAA in total points (114) and is ranked second with 62 assists. DePompeo became Navy's all-time single-season scoring leader against American and she is five points shy of tying Lehigh's Jill Altshuler (1993-96) for the Patriot League single-season record.

Generi had five points on two goals and three assists with nine draw controls against Jacksonville. The sophomore had another five-point game against American, scoring four goals with one assist and six draw controls.

The Bayport native leads Navy and the Patriot League in goals (55) and draw controls (96). Generi has been named the midfield player of the week three times this season.
