Local Lax Girls are Winning Rivals on the Field and Good Friends Off

There are two special qualities about this group of Sayville and Bayport lacrosse players.

Five Sayville and two Bayport girls were chosen to play in the U 15 Girls National Championship Tournament in Lake Buena Vista, Florida in July, representing rival Long Island teams but off the field all are fast friends.

Sayville’s Mackenzie Burns, Sarah Koehler and Isabella Mangan and Bayport’s Kerrigan Miller played representing the Long Island Yellow Jackets. Sayville’s Molly Andrews and Erin MacDevitt and Bayport’s Annalise Martin played for the Long Island Top Guns.

The LI Yellow Jackets Team took second place and  the Long Island Top Guns took third place.

Mackenzie Burns was chosen by US Lacrosse as an All Tournament Mid-Fielder. Twenty five teams were invited to play and only 12 girls were chosen to be All Tournament.
