Capozzi and Team Win Sailing World Championships

Bayport's Debbie Capozzi and women's match racing team defeat Great Britain Dec. 20.

Bayport's and her team won the ISAF Sailing World Championships in women's match racing Dec. 20.

According to the article in the Miami Herald:

"Anna Tunnicliffe's (Plantation, Fla.), Molly Vandemoer (Stanford, Calif.) and Debbie Capozzi (Bayport, N.Y.) won the ISAF Sailing World Championships in women's match racing, defeating Great Britain's Lucy MacGregor in four straight matches."

On Nov. 29, Sail World reported that Capozzi's team placed in the top two at the first qualifying regatta for the US Olympic team.

The three-woman team is set to to compete in final Olympic qualifier May 2012.

Every year the school districts on Long Island receive increases of millions of dollars to their budgets, and still they want to bleed the taxpayer for more. As two income families struggle to pay exorbitant tax bills, we’re asked to pay even more? We’ll here’s a novel idea, how about if the teachers union’s began demanding less? This early retirement baloney must stop, salaries should be capped, administrators and their staffs must be cut by at least eighty percent. In addition, educators and staff should have to pay for their own medical and retirement plans just as the rest of us must. Here on Long Island, families are suffering and sacrificing, and many are being forced to leave due to taxes which are out of control. It is time for educators to cease hiding behind children with threats of decreased student programs, and to make an honest and realistic observation as to why things are as bad as they are. To blame parents for not paying enough into the system to support the schools is ludicrous. The real problem lies in a system which is self serving, and run by incompetents blind to the harm they are inflicting upon our children and families.
