UPDATE: B-BP Baseball 11-0 & Clinch Playoff Berth

Phantoms heading into post-season play for 17th consecutive year.

This story is updated with more game insight from Coach Jim Moccio.

The Bayport-Blue Point Varsity Boys Baseball team beat Mt. Sinai's Mustangs Wednesday once again in the final match-up of a three-game series this past week.

Chris Brewer allowed an unearned run off five hits with 10 strikeouts in a complete seven innings to lead Bayport-Blue Point (11-0) in League VII.  Ryan Smith went 2-for-3 with a run scored and Dylan Rooney went 2-for-2 with a double. Matt White gave the Phantoms a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning when he executed  a suicide squeeze bunt to score Alex Dura from third base.  He then drove in Dura again in the bottom of the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly to right field extending the lead to 4-0.

On Monday the Phantoms beat Mt. Sinai 4-1 due to strong pitching by B-BP lefty Jack Piekos.

With the win Wednesday the team clinched a berth in the Suffolk County playoffs for the seventeenth consecutive season.

This week the team has a three-game series with East Hampton, followed by Amityville, and defending Suffolk County Champion Shoreham Wading River.
