UPDATED: B-BP Baseball Goes for County Championship Wednesday

Phantoms take on Miller Place at 4 p.m. at B-BP high school field.

The Bayport-Blue Point Varsity Boys Baseball team will have home field advantage Wednesday in its quest for the Suffolk County Championship title.

In the Class A Winner's Bracket Final last week the Phantoms beat rival Sayville by a score of 6-0.  Jack Piekos threw a one-hitter and allowed a hit to the first batter of the game but did not allow another hit for the rest of the game. He finished with 13 strikeouts.

Matt McKinnon had three hits and Sal Geraci had a two-run single to give B-BP a 5-0 lead. The win put Bayport-Blue Point in the Class A County Finals for the second consecutive year. The Phantoms have won the county championships in 2003 and 2004.

The Phantoms will take on Miller Place, which beat Sayville 4-1 yesterday, with the game kicking off at 4 p.m. The original game day was Tuesday but was postponed due to rain.
