B-BP Alumnus Rows Her Way to Novice of Year Award

Abigail Grupposo excels on Wesleyan regatta team.

Patch thanks Laurie Gruppuso for contributing this article about her daughter’s athletic accomplishment at college. Congrats Abigail! This article was posted by Judy Mottl.

Abigail Gruppuso is on the women’s rowing crew at Wesleyan University (DIII NESCAC conference) and rowed the fall regatta schedule in the novice boat. She worked hard all winter and did her first two races in the Varsity 3 and Novice boats. Her efforts in improving her fitness and her quick understanding of the technical aspects of rowing allowed her to win a seat in the Varsity 2 boat. She raced the balance of the season at this level.   She participated in the ECAC conference championships and her Varsity 2 boat just fell short in their heat by 2/10 of a second and finished second.  They did win the Petite Final (race among the runner-ups) for a seventh place overall finish. Gruppuso was awarded Novice of the Year by Wesleyan University and will have her name added to a placard displayed in their athletic building.
