Bayport-Blue Point Girls Cross Country Claims Another Championship

Team also took Division IV title this season.

On Tuesday, October 15 the Bayport-Blue Point Girls Cross Country team won its fourth consecutive Cross Country League Championship. Concurrently the team also accomplished something that had only been done once before in school history: this league championship also gave the girls their tenth consecutive titles dating back to the fall of 2010.

The Girls XC and Track and Field program has not lost a dual meet against another team since the spring of 2010 and have won 38 straight meets against league opponents. This was done once before under by the Coach Zarcone, Coach Iberger and Coach Burke dynasty era between the fall of 2001 through fall of 2004.

The seniors on this XC team (Courtney Bofinger, Cassie Dooley, Courtney Dooley, Michelle Grosser, Cheyenne Story, Megan Becker, Kathryn Wicklund and Kitty Williams) have not lost a dual meet while they have been in high school. Many athletes have contributed to the Cross Country and Track and Field teams’ success over the last four years.

Throughout that time many kids have set personal bests, broken school records, won league and county championships, with five even becoming state champions.

The undefeated league champions also took their third consecutive Division IV championship at Sunken Meadow State Park on October 22.
