2 Sayville Girls Tennis Players Qualify for All County

Sayville sophomore Paige Liskiewicz and seventh-grader Hannah Niggemeier earned places on 16-member Suffolk County Singles Varsity squad and qualified for the All-County Tournament and compete in the Suffolk County Girls Varsity Championship.

Coming off a great season for Sayville Girls Varsity Tennis, Coach Neil Bernstein admired “the chemistry of the team, especially as the members supported each other in practice and at matches.”

That support paid off. After successfully competing in the Division II Playoffs at East Islip High School, both players achieved phenomenal results. 1st Singles, Sayville Sophomore Paige Liskiewicz seeded number two in the Division II Singles Tournament and came in 2nd place overall. 3rd Singles Sayville Seventh-grader Hannah Niggemeier came in 3rd place in the Division II Singles Tournament. 

Both exceptional players have been awarded All-County Status and go on to compete at the Suffolk County Girls Varsity Championship on Saturday, October 19th at Smithtown East High School.

The following Sayville Varsity Girls also competed in both the Division II Playoffs at East Islip High School and were awarded All-Division Status for this season: # 2 Singles, Senior Rebecca Grennan and #1 Doubles, Junior Shannon Bohman and #1 Doubles, Junior Jessica Klassert. 

In addition, the Sayville Varsity Girls who also competed in the Division II Playoffs at East Islip and were awarded All-League Status for this season are: #2 Doubles: Sophomore Cielle Pappalardo, #2 Doubles: Freshman Sarah Bunk, #3 Doubles: Senior Nicole Delgaudio and #3 Doubles: Junior Kelly Camp.

The entire Varsity team, which includes Senior Emma Scala, Junior Brianna D'Amico, Freshmen Taylor Corwin, Freshman Rebecca Mohrmann, and Eight-grader Alexa Villez, is competing in the Suffolk County Team Championship against Mercy Catholic High School, Riverhead.

Although they are a young team, Coach Bernstein predicts “that with hard work in the off season, they can have a very bright future. Good luck to the Seniors!”
