Two Bayport-Blue Point Students Receive Presiding Officer's Award

B-BP elementary graduates recognized for their successful educational career by Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer William Lindsay.

Bayport-Blue Point School District fifth graders Gabriella Ranaudo and Shannon Conrad were recognized with an award from Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer William Lindsay for their hard work in successfully completing the first part of their educational journey.

The former Academy Street and Sylvan Avenue elementary school students received the Presiding Officer’s Award from Lindsay at their respective moving-up ceremonies. Each award recipient was presented with an official Suffolk County Legislature Proclamation.

Intended for those students who demonstrated a strong work ethic and the character traits that enable them to grow into strong adult citizens, the award was presented by Lindsay on staff recommendation from schools in his district.

Each school selected a student who they felt was a role model for his or her peers by setting an example and helping others to succeed in the classroom and in the community. These young children create meaningful learning experiences, work diligently, consistently demonstrate good decision-making skills and continue to work towards their full potential.

“I want to thank all of the schools for participating in this new initiative program,” Lindsay said. “I have always felt strongly that our youngsters need recognition and approval wherever and whenever possible, and these students have set a perfect example for their peers.
