UPDATED: Should Schools Cancel Winter Break?

Given lost class time districts may cancel the February break. Do you agree with that decision?

The super storm Sandy that hit in late October played havoc with school districts and student class time given the large number of days many districts were forced to be closed.

Many Long Island districts are opting to cancel the annual February winter break to catch up on lost classroom time.

In Sayville the decision will be made at the December 6 board meeting. Bayport-Blue Point's interim superintendent is recommending using four of the vacation days and it's likely the board of education will make a decision at its December 4 meeting.
