Talk Back: Should Board of Educations Have Term Limits?

As school district budget and board of education votes are around the corner Patch wants to know what readers think of BOE term limits.

There is currently no limit on how long a school board of education trustee can serve and in many districts there are board members hitting double-digit tenures.

Advocates of unlimited BOE terms say the job requires at least two terms given all the intricacies and issues that members need to learn about.

Critics of that stance and those want term limits believe longevity by a board member is not a good thing and that fresh faces and ideas are only brought on by new members.
