Don't Miss: B-BP NCAA Recruiting Presentation Tonight

Workshop features national expert on financial opportunities for the student-athlete.

The Bayport-Blue Point School District is hosting a special seminar on NCAA recruiting and financial opportunities on Monday, October 22 that parents and student-athletes are encouraged to attend.

National renowned recruiting expert Jack Renken will deliver a one-hour presentation on the realities of college recruiting. Renken has been providing such insight for 16 years of such seminars and a preview can be seen here.

The seminar event, which will be at 7 p.m. at the district auditorium, is not costing the district any money, said Tim Mullins, director of Physical Education, Health and Interscholastic Sports.

“I'm confident you will find Jack's presentation educational, informative and entertaining. It will be a great one-hour investment of time for you and your student-athlete. Parents all over the country are raving about the importance and impact of this,” states Mullins in an email sent out last week to parents.

And so the taxpayer is once again asked to give more to an already out of control and bloatedRead More system. Every year the school districts on Long Island receive increases of millions of dollars to their budgets, and still they want to bleed the taxpayer for more. As two income families struggle to pay exorbitant tax bills, we’re asked to pay even more? We’ll here’s a novel idea, how about if the teachers union’s began demanding less? This early retirement baloney must stop, salaries should be capped, administrators and their staffs must be cut by at least eighty percent. In addition, educators and staff should have to pay for their own medical and retirement plans just as the rest of us must. Here on Long Island, families are suffering and sacrificing, and many are being forced to leave due to taxes which are out of control. It is time for educators to cease hiding behind children with threats of decreased student programs, and to make an honest and realistic observation as to why things are as bad as they are. To blame parents for not paying enough into the system to support the schools is ludicrous. The real problem lies in a system which is self serving, and run by incompetents blind to the harm they are inflicting upon our children and families.
