Sayville Voters OK All 3 Budgets, Busing Plan & Re-Elect Board Incumbent

In library trustee race Joseph Loughren beat challenger Nandini Charles.

Sayville taxpayers approved a proposed district spend plan, the library budget proposal and the budget for the Sayville Historical Society Tuesday.

Current Board of Education President Ray Nelson was returned for another term, beating challenger Laura Valente by a vote of 1,329 to 973.

In the library board race Joseph Loughren beat Nandini Charles by a tally of 1,117 to 487.

A proposition to expand busing on the elementary level, which added no cost to the budget, was approved by a vote of 1,865 to 540.

The Sayville Historical Society budget was approved by a vote of 1,810 to 601.

The Sayville Library spend plan was approved by a vote of 1,722 to 735.

The district budget proposal passed by a whopping margin, with 1,842 yes votes to 684 nay votes.
