Sayville Students Honor Vets With a Choral Concert

Reflecting the theme, “Around the World and Then Back Home,” the Lincoln Avenue elementary school Choral Concert mingled beautiful voices with patriotic pride. Held in the Sayville Middle School, all three choruses delighted the full auditorium with their performances.

In the finale, directed by Lincoln Avenue Music teacher Christine Cirillo, veterans of the armed services were honored.

“What a better way to come back home, than to celebrate those who have fought for our freedom,” stated Mrs. Cirillo. Cued by the students’ enthusiastic voices, members of Sayville’s American Legion Smith-Wever Post 651 located on Foster Avenue, proudly marched the flag of each division of the armed forces onto the stage as the children sang the theme songs from each branch.

The veterans present within the audience received applause and recognition for their dedication to service and our freedom. By the end of the concert, the moving musical performances and the veterans received a standing ovation!
