Sayville School Budget Re-Vote Tuesday

The Sayville Board of Education has decided to trim down its original 2014-15 budget proposal after it was soundly defeated by voters last month.

A re-vote on the new $90.05 million budget, which represents a .66 percent spending increase over the current year's budget, will be held on Tuesday, June 17.

The new proposal, unlike the original, is within the state's tax cap for the district, which is 1.22 percent. Since the proposed budget does not exceed the cap, a simple majority vote is all that is needed to pass this time around. Residents would also be eligible for state rebate checks under the new proposal.

For more info on the new budget proposal and the specific reductions the board made to the original proposal, visit the district's website here

Polls are open from 7 a.m.- 9 p.m. Tuesday in the gymnasium of the Suffolk Community College Center.
