Sayville School Budget Passes

Second time is the charm for school budget proposal.

Sayville residents easily approved a new school budget proposal during a re-vote on Tuesday.

The $90.05 million budget, which represents a .66 percent spending increase over the current year's budget, passed by a margin of 2,518-797.

The approved budget, unlike the original proposal that was defeated by voters last month, is within the state's tax cap for the district, which is 1.22 percent. Since the revised budget proposal did not exceed the cap, a simple majority vote was all that was needed to pass this time around.
