Sayville Girls Softball Team Heads to State Champ Game

The varsity squad got a unique good luck send-off from the Sayville Fire Department.

As the sun rose over Brook Avenue Friday morning, the Sayville Varsity Softball team was met by thee Sayville volunteer Fire Department members who came by to give the team a memorable send-off as they headed to the NYSPHSAA Championship game.
 
The varsity team, coached by Tiffany Rowan and Mike Guercio, beat Plainedge this past Tuesday with a score of 4 to 2 in a dramatic ending to their high school softball season. 

Now they're heading to compete in the New York State Championship semi-finals in Queensbury, at the Adirondack Sports Complex on Saturday, June 9 at 11:30 a.m. The Flashes will face off against Cornwall, a Section 9 winner. Should Sayville win, they will then play for the championship at 4:30 pm. 
 
Win or lose, the girls varsity team has had a tremendous season. The five graduating seniors will have memories that will last a lifetime and the underclassmen will have a goal for next season and beyond.
