Meet Sayville 2013 HS Salutatorian: Curran Boyce

With the second highest weighted GPA of 106.852 out of 292 Sayville classmates, Curran Boyce has been name Salutatorian for the Class of 2013.

Both a gentleman and a scholar, Curran has excelled on every level, earning National Merit Finalist, Presidential Scholar Semifinalist, and AP Scholar with Distinction designations, as well as winning leadership awards, volunteer service awards, math and science awards, social studies awards, cross country and track accolades, to name but a few. He also held the title of Quizbowl Champion for two consecutive years.

By virtue of his piercing intelligence and innate curiosity, Curran has distinguished himself as a gifted student with a maturity beyond his years. His passion for history, economics, and government compelled him to work on a “campaign for Senator Lee Zeldin, in student politics, and by serving as a member of the Town of Islip Youth Bureau,” notes his Guidance Counselor Stephanie Adamson, who sums up his ambitions perfectly.” He hopes that in five years he will be entering a 5-year Naval Officer Appointment, after spending four years at Yale University and participating in the NROTC program. He plans on serving his country before searching for a job in the private sector in business or in the political arena.”

Dedicated, hardworking, with an excellent work ethic, and identified as the kind of student who embraces rigorous academic programs, Curran has also tempered this strong drive with genuine kindness, patience, and empathy for others.

As a positive influence within the community, Curran leads by example. In his senior year, he has captained his Varsity Cross Country Team and Varsity Winter and Spring Track. He currently serves as President of the Student Government and Vice President of the National Honor Society. Last year he was the Second Vice President of Student Government, Altar Server Coordinator at St. Lawrence the Martyr Church, and was Class President in both his Sophomore and Freshman years.

Throughout his High School career, Curran has balanced leadership with service, accolades with humility, and strength with compassion. Friendly, approachable, and attentive are qualities for which he has been recognized by his peers. He looks to the future with a discerning eye, hoping to impact the political system with lasting positive change.

With these signature attributes of a true leader, it is no wonder his “greatest goal” is aimed at the highest office in the White House, as President of the United States. This country could use a young man like Curran Boyce.

Toward that end he is already on track. Following five former U.S. Presidents (Taft, Ford, Bush, Clinton, Bush), Curran Boyce can affix his name to Yale University when he attends this fall.
