Local High Schools Land on Newsweek's Best List

Ranking lists top in the nation.

The Bayport-Blue Point High School and Sayville High School are high on the list among the top 2,000 best high schools in the nation, according to the recent Newsweek "America's Best High Schools."

Schools on the list have proven to be the most effective in graduating college-ready graduates and is based on six aspects: graduation rate, college acceptance rate, AP/IB/AICE tests, average SAT/ACT scores and percent of students enrolled in the AP/IB/AICE course.

Bayport Blue Point is number 480 on the list. The district has a 99 percent graduation rate, and an average SAT score of 1524.

Sayville landed at number 483 on the list. The district boasts a 97 percent graduation rate and an average SAT score of 1645.

Last year, in 2012, Newsweek ranked the top 1,000 high schools. Bayport-Blue Point landed in the 526 place, and Sayville came in at 601 on that list.
