Lincoln Avenue Sends 101 Fifth Graders Off to Middle School
Moving up ceremony features awards presentations, essays and songs for the Sayville students.
One hundred and one fifth grade students from said goodbye to their elementary school at the moving up ceremony held on June 23 at the Old Junior High School.
Student government presidents Philip Rinaldi and Victoria Creviston led the audience and classmates in the Pledge of Allegiance. While Lincoln Avenue principal Dr. Michele LeBlanc reflected on the past six years with the students, Middle School principal Tom Murray welcomed them with open arms. Fifth grader Sophie Fisher shared her essay entitled “Hiding,” and Jessica Dailey also presented her essay on “What Fifth Grade Means to Me.” All of the students showed off their musical talents with two songs, “For Just a Little While,” and “Rockin’ Lincoln.” Dr. LeBlanc acknowledged the winners of the Gold and Silver Presidential Academic Fitness Awards.
The Presiding Officer’s Award was presented on behalf of Legislator Bill Lindsay to Jeremy Bruno. The Triple C Award recipients were Gavin Syska and Victoria Fuori. The New York State Comptroller Award was given to Philip Rinaldi and Richard Cotes.
