Kamp Kasha to Host Free Special Needs Camp

Director's daughter will hold camp during spring break as part of community service project.

Local student Sydney Teplitz won't be vacationing on her spring break, she'll be working at Kamp Kasha, the community service project she organized to make sure children with special needs have an amazing week.

This Sayville High School freshman won't be at it alone though, Sydney Teplitz is conducting the camp under the supervision of her mother, Amy, the director of  in Blue Point. 

Teplitz invites special needs children in the area to be a guest at the camp, which is completely free.

“It will be funded by Sydney fundraising and by Kasha Academy. It is free of charge," Amy said.

There will be crafts, contests, indoor and outdoor play, games, dancing and more. The camp is open to ages two through 10 and will take place daily from 9 a.m. to noon.

Teplitz plans on pursuing a career in education.

"She has a special place in her heart for kids with special needs (just like her Mom)," Amy said. "I am so proud of Sydney and hope parents take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.”
