Family Fun Night Delivers Fairytales with a Twist

An entertaining show brings families together at Blue Point Elementary School.

PTA introduced a new kind of Family Fun Night on Friday that entertained families with a performance of "Fairytale Follies," an original show by theater troupe Comedy with Character.

Blue Point PTA co-secretary Meredith Lessing was looking to bring a different type of activity to the family fun event when she found out about the troupe.

“Comedy with Character goes into schools to teach kids character through comedy and they make it easy for them to relate to," she said.

This group puts a different spin on the classic fairytales with skits like “Stinkerella” and “The Princess and the Flea.”

Blue Point PTA president Lisa Druckenmiller thinks performances of this sort are educational and enjoyable for young students.

“We thought it was a great idea to bring theater to the kids because not all children get exposed to it," she said.
