West Sayville Fire Department to Host an Open House at Fire Headquarters to kick off Fire Prevention Week
On Sunday, October 3, 2010, the West Sayville Fire Department, supported by the West Sayville Junior Fire Department and other area emergency service personnel, will host an Open House to begin Fire Prevention Week at Fire Headquarters, 80 Main Street in West Sayville (Montauk Highway and Cherry Avenue). The Open House will start at 1:00 PM and run until 4:00 PM. Families and interested parties are invited to come and get to know the emergency workers who serve the area. During the Open House families can learn how to plan to escape a house fire and have the opportunity to practice leaving a smoke filled room, observe firefighters demonstrate various fire and rescue skills, some games and tours of Fire Headquarters. Light refreshments will be served. The event will be held rain or shine. This year marks the 119th year of service of the West Sayville Fire Department and the 115th year of service of the West Sayville Junior Fire Department to the communities of West Sayville and Oakdale.
