Schools

bayport/bluepoint library election

Goodafternoon neighbors:
My name is Murray Schwartz My home is on Namkee Lane,
Blue Point. I have qualified  to have my name placed on the ballot for the open seat on the Board of Trustees The
Election is planned for Wednesday,  April 4th at the Library.
Both the Budget and the Trustee election will be voted.
My family and my wife and I have been home owners in Blue Point for more than 60 years and have enjoyed the the wonderful service and cultural resources provided by our community Library. My wife, who passed away two years ago, was an elementary school teacher and school librarian in the West Babylon Schools for twenty five years. She always had a great appreciation for the asset our library has been for the children and adults in our village. I would now very much like to help be part of an effort to continue making our Library an important and productive
element for the quality of life in our community. I am an active eighty year old with many years of experience gained from an extensive career in industrial electronics and computer development. After obtaining my college degree in Math/Physics and serving in the Air Force during the Korean War, my wife and I married
and bought our first house here on Long Island. Through
our more than 57 years of marriage we lived happily and raised two wonderful children. I am now blessed with four grandchildren and I am especially concerned with their future as well as the future of all children. In particular I am concerned with what “libraries” can provide that will  broaden their awareness of the physical world
and the responsibility we all have to preserve it for the generations to come

Should I be successful and gain a position on the Board one of my chief goals would be to see if activities at the library for children can incorporate science and mathematical themes in balance with art and literature. In this day and age I think that encouraging
a science awareness in our children's education is very important if our country is to continue to hold a key place in the global market. This position depends critically upon our capabilities in high technology and innovation based on advances in the sciences

Now,at this time, I ask for your support for the budget and and Library Board Election.Thank you for your interest and please be sure to vote !
