Class of 2011 Grads Prepare to Move Forward

A majority of the 191 students in Bayport-Blue Point High School's graduating class will attend four-year colleges.

The Class of 2011 can now officially call themselves high school graduates: 191 students received diplomas during Saturday's commencement exercises on the high school grounds.

Principal Dr. Timothy Hearney said that of the 191 graduating students, 99 percent received a diploma with a New York State regents endorsement. Even more impressive, of that 99 percent, 62 percent received an advanced regents endorsement.

Of that 62 percent, 55 percent graduated with an advanced regents endorsement with honors, meaning those students scored an average of 90 or higher on their regents exams.
