Blue Point Students Know Their State Facts

The fifth grade 'state fair' event aims to help students learn everything from state seals to state birds.

The historical importance and key facts about each of the nation’s 50 states were on display for all to see during this year’s fifth-grade “state fair” at Blue Point Elementary School in the Bayport-Blue Point School District.

In preparation for the annual event, the students researched their assigned
state and created presentation boards on which they described the state’s unique identifiers, such as its seal, flag, bird, geographic location and famous individuals who were born there, in addition to its general climate and population. The completed boards were put on display in the school’s cafeteria for the fair attendees to enjoy. The project offered students a hands-on and in-depth approach to studying their researched state, as well as the other states in the nation.
