Blue Point Student Spells Her Way to Regional Competition

Fifth grader Adelaina Salaway will now compete in LI regional spelling bee.

After several grueling rounds of competition, Blue Point Elementary School fifth-grader Adelaina Salaway was named this year’s spelling bee winner.

She will now compete in the Long Island Regional Scripps Spelling Bee at Hofstra University.

Leading up the school’s sponsored spelling bee, Blue Point fourth- and fifth-grade students participated in class spelling bees and each winner qualified to compete in the final contest. Students prepared for the contest for countless hours, challenging themselves to learn complex words and linguistic strategies.
